It wasn’t until about 10 years ago that I started hearing about Galentine’s Day. While I’m sure it’s been around longer, the rise of the self-love movement and the celebration of platonic relationships alongside romantic ones has truly given it a spotlight. Today, it feels like its own official holiday, typically celebrated on February 13.

I’ve always celebrated Galentine’s Day whenever my girlfriends and I could find time to gather. Some years it’s the day before Valentine’s Day, other years it’s the weekend before—or even after. This year, we’re celebrating the day after. For me, it’s the perfect excuse to host an over-the-top, decorated Galentine’s brunch with my closest friends, honoring our bond and the love we share. And let’s be real—if you think I’m not going all out with a themed brunch, you must not know me! (I’ll take any excuse to throw a party!)
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you might remember my tips for hosting a Galentine’s brunch. If not, you’ll want to check it out—it’s packed with ideas for setting the perfect vibe. But today, I’m diving deeper into my favorite part of party planning: the decor.
Let’s set the scene, shall we? You’re hosting Galentine’s brunch, and you want your girlfriends to walk in and feel all the love. Here’s how to make it happen:
Nail Down Your Galentine’s Party Aesthetic
A quick scroll through Pinterest or Instagram will reveal endless Galentine’s brunch theme ideas. From paint-and-sip parties to elegant dinners, pizza-and-pajama nights, and bow-themed gatherings (because bows are having a moment!), the options are adorable and abundant. Choosing just one can be tough, so be prepared to want to recreate them all! For my celebration, I’m sticking with a classic brunch theme.

Think Through the Details
The decor and little details are where the magic happens. They’re what elevate a gathering from a casual get-together to a full-on vibe. If you want to wow your friends, trust me, the details matter.
Start by visualizing your theme. How do you want your Galentine’s brunch to look and feel–or dare I even say, smell? Maybe it’s the sweet aroma of roses or the comforting scent of vanilla wafting through the air. Once you’ve nailed that, move on to lighting and sound.
Since I’m hosting brunch I’m definitely skipping the harsh overhead lights (I’m not a fan of those anyway). Instead, focus on natural light and cozy ambiance. And don’t forget the music! A playlist is non-negotiable—it sets the tone. Whether it’s soft jazz or nostalgic throwbacks, having music ready to go ensures the vibe is just right. I once hosted a party with a playlist of songs from our college spring break years—it was a hit and brought back so many memories and fun conversations!

Planning Out the Decor
Now for the fun part: decorating! Think about the spaces you’ll use. Will you and your girlfriends gather around the dining table, lounge in the living room, or a mix of both? Each area is an opportunity to create a welcoming, intentional vibe for your Galentine’s brunch.

Living Room
If you’re cozying up here, watching chick flicks, and spilling all the tea, it needs to feel warm and inviting. Add a stack of your favorite magazines to the coffee table (because who doesn’t love to flip while they sip!?). Layer in cozy blankets and throw pillows in shades of pink, cream, and white to really make the space feel festive and girlie.

Decorate your coffee table with candles for a touch of drama—swap out the colors to match your Galentine’s brunch theme. They’re an easy way to elevate the space and make it feel special. To tie it all together, throw a beautiful vase on the coffee table with some blush-colored flowers. If you are looking for a more budget-friendly option, carnations or baby’s breath look beautiful as well.

Dining Room
Your dining table can be the centerpiece of your Galentine’s brunch. I’m going for a sophisticated vibe this year with a mix of candlesticks and glass holders I recently found at Target. Of course, I’ll tie ribbons around them—bows are my thing this year, as you might have noticed from my holiday decor!

Add flower vases and tiered trays to the table for a layered, elegant look. There’s nothing more beautiful than flowers cascading across the table, it adds the perfect backdrop for all the pics you’re going to snap. Also, I love filling tiered trays with macarons and sweet treats. Pro tip: Costco and Sam’s Club have delicious macarons that won’t break the bank.

When planning your decor, think of other spaces where you can add fun, thematic touches. I love the idea of hanging garland in doorways or mantles. Framed artwork carefully placed on a mantle or hung on the wall is my go-to for adding cute decor. I found this wall art on Shein and thought it was so perfect touch to add to dining room decor.

Kitchen
I like to keep the kitchen functional and minimal on the decor since it’s usually bustling during the party. This year, I’m setting up a mimosa and Bloody Mary bar here. If your home is more open concept, feel free to extend the decor into the kitchen. For me, our historic home’s layout naturally keeps the focus on the other spaces.

And finally, not that this has anything to do with the decor, but you know I love to dress the part. For my Galentine’s brunch, the theme is brunch and the attire is casual and comfy. There were so many cute sets I found online and I had to share some of them with you below.
The Ensemble
Every time I’ve hosted my Galentine’s brunch I always lean towards wearing comfy but cute outfits. I feel like brunch at home is an appropriate time for cute and girly lounge sets. I’ve pulled together a few of my favorite ones here. There are so many cute and affordable ones to choose from; it was honestly hard picking just one (but let’s be honest, I don’t need more than one.) Here are a few others I saw as I was doing some online shopping.
- Pink and black heart lounge set
- This beautiful, velvet ribbed lounge set
- Hot pink striped satin set
- This pink and red heart comfy set.
I hope this post has inspired you to create your own Galentine’s party because, after all, Galentine’s Day is all about celebrating love and friendship in the most fabulous way possible. Whether you’re hosting a brunch, a dinner, or a movie night, let your decor reflect the love you’re sharing with your friends. Now, go plan that Galentine’s brunch and make it fabulous!
