One thing I look forward to every holiday season is the chance to bake lots of yummy treats for my friends, family and of course myself too! There is something so festive about baking yummy foods while soft Christmas music plays in the background. Every year I make it a point to bake my neighbors, girlfriends, and my relatives an assortment of holiday treats and package them up in boxes so they can savor the holidays just a bit longer. This year I decided to try a different twist on the typical holiday cookie and make delicious Peppermint Bark. While I am not the biggest chocolate fan (I know, my woman card needs revoked!), I have to say when I tried this, I immediately regretted not making a larger batch for myself! Needless to say, this holiday treat is a hit for any get-together or a great parting gift for your guests.
{Step 1: Crush peppermints- I used approximately 8 ounces}
{Step 2: Measure out 12 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate morsels and 1 tbsp of vegetable oil}
{Step 3: Mix the chocolate and vegetable oil together in a mixing bowl and melt together}
{Step 4: Pour melted chocolate in baking pan lined with parchment paper, refrigerate until cool}
{Step 5: Mix 12 ounces of white chocolate chips with 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and melt together}
{Step 6: Add 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract to melted white chocolate}
{Step 7: Add melted white chocolate to pan and sprinkle peppermint pieces on top}
{Step 8: Cool in refrigerator for an additional 30 minutes and then carefully break apart}
{Step 9: Serve and enjoy! Happy Holidays!}
